We get asked quite often about
how neon is mounted and if a
neon sign can be shipped without a backing so it can just hang freely. The answer is simply... no.
I am sorry but no matter what you have heard or think you have seen,
ALL neon must be mounted to something. The glass tubes are attached to little 2" pegs (called tube supports) that must be attached to something. It can be attached to a black or blue lexan backing or perhaps a clear acrylic or even black, blue or clear that has been cut along the contours of the neon. Neon signs can also be mounted on a metal rack or metal skeleton frame as seen on just about every
Neon Beer Sign or
Neon Bar Sign. You can mount your
Custom Neon Sign directly to a wall or board or other flat surface.
Either way, the point of all this is that
neon signs must be attached or mounted to something. Check out the examples below for reference.
